Affordable moving & storage services
Welcome to Pure moving company!
Your Santa Monica Movers, From Ocean Park to North of Montana
Santa Monica is its own city, with its own City Hall, parking rules and street sweeping schedule. A move here goes smoothly when someone has thought about your block ahead of time, and that is the part we love. Tell us if your street is in a preferential parking zone, when the sweeper comes and whether there is an alley behind the building, and we will plan the truck around it.
Pure Moving Company works in every Santa Monica ZIP code, 90401 through 90405. Whether it is an apartment move in Ocean Park or a family home in Sunset Park, you get the same friendly pro movers. We wrap your furniture piece by piece and treat your things like they matter, because they do.
No hidden fees and no surprise charges on moving day. Call Pure Moving at (323) 916-4206 and let’s plan your Santa Monica move together!
Moving in Santa Monica: What to Plan For
Saving Curb Space for the Truck
Good news first: the City of Santa Monica says temporary no parking signs are advised but not required. A truck that is not parked overnight (9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) can use any legal open space. On a busy block, reserved curb space saves a long carry.
To reserve space, email the Public Works permits office at pw.permits@santamonica.gov or call (310) 458-8737 with your address, dates and how much curb you need. A moving truck can hold the space for up to 72 hours. The city does not publish a turnaround time and the inbox is monitored Monday through Thursday, so we suggest writing a week or more ahead.
You post the signs yourself, and Santa Monica Police must inspect them at least 24 hours before they take effect, or they cannot be enforced as a tow-away zone. The city’s Temporary No Parking Sign page has the steps.
Street Sweeping, Permit Zones and Alleys
Street sweeping is weekly, and cars parked during the posted hours are cited, so read the “NO PARKING” signs on both blocks before you pick a day. If your new street is in a preferential parking zone, bring your signed lease and ID to the parking office for a 30-day temporary permit.
Is there an alley behind your building? The city allows active loading in alleys as long as 11 feet of clearance stays open. Check the alley signs, because some limit loading to 30 minutes or less.
Containers and Long-Distance Trucks
A moving container on the street needs a Use of Public Property Permit from the same office. Santa Monica also requires an Oversize Load Permit for any vehicle over 8 feet 6 inches wide, 14 feet high or 40 feet long. Not sure what applies to you? Call us and we will walk you through it.

How Much Do Santa Monica Movers Cost With Pure Moving?
We charge a simple hourly rate, and you only pay for the time we work. Blankets, wardrobe boxes, shrink wrap and tape, dollies, tools, assembly, packing and unpacking, tax and basic insurance are all included, with no additional fee for stairs, narrow hallways or long walks. You can see our rates any time, or call for a free quote.
Do I Need A Parking Permit For A Moving Truck In Santa Monica?
Not always. The City of Santa Monica says temporary no parking signs are advised but not required, and a truck that is not parked overnight can use any legal open space. On a crowded block, reserve curb space through the Public Works permits office and start early.
What Parking Rules Should I Check On My Santa Monica Street?
Three things: the street sweeping signs (sweeping is weekly and parked cars are cited), whether the street is in a preferential parking zone, and the alley signs, since some alleys limit loading to 30 minutes or less. Tell us what you find and we will plan around it.
How Do I Get Rid Of Furniture Before I Move Out Of Santa Monica?
The city collects bulky items such as mattresses, furniture and large appliances, up to 5 items per pickup. Label them “For City Pick-up”, set them at the curb or alley, then call (866) 311-7266. Allow 7 to 10 days. Details are on the city’s bulky item page.
Are Your Movers In Santa Monica Licensed And Insured?
Yes. Pure Moving Company is fully licensed and insured, license number MTR0191103, and basic insurance is included in our hourly rate. Just as important, we really care. Our movers wrap furniture individually and look after your things from the first call to the last box.
