Welcome to Pure moving company!
Your Malibu Movers, From Big Rock to Trancas
Malibu is one long, beautiful stretch of coast, and Pacific Coast Highway ties all of it together. On the city’s own coastal maps, PCH addresses run from the 18800 block at Las Tunas Beach to the 33900 block out by Leo Carrillo. PCH is a state highway with its own rules and lane closures, so a Malibu move takes a little more planning.
That is where we come in. Pure Moving Company helps you plan around the highway, the weather and your driveway, so moving day feels calm. Whether you live in Big Rock, on Malibu Road, in Serra Retreat or out on Point Dume, our friendly pro movers wrap your furniture piece by piece and carry every item with care.
We are fully licensed and insured, with no hidden fees. Call Pure Moving at 800-816-5121 and let’s get your Malibu move on the calendar!
Moving in Malibu: What to Plan For
Pacific Coast Highway Comes First
PCH is a state highway managed by Caltrans, not by the city. Through Malibu, from Topanga Canyon Boulevard to Decker Road, Caltrans lists this restriction: “No through trucks or truck and trailer combinations with 4 or more axles.” That matters most for long-distance trailers, so tell us early if your move starts or ends outside the area.
The City of Malibu posts Caltrans lane closures on PCH and Topanga Canyon Boulevard in its Alert Center, so check it and the Los Angeles County road closures page the week of your move. Kanan Dume Road even has a truck arrester bed above PCH for runaway trucks.
Parking the Truck at Your Home
The City of Malibu says an Encroachment Permit is required for use of the public right of way, and activity along PCH may need a Caltrans permit. If the truck cannot fit in your driveway, call Malibu Public Works at 310-456-2489, ext. 391 before moving day.
Malibu’s Oversize Vehicles Ordinance (Ordinance No. 427, Municipal Code Chapter 10.18) covers vehicles over 23 feet long, 80 inches wide or 82 inches high. It limits oversize commercial vehicles making local deliveries to two hours in one spot on a public street, with an exemption for pickups or deliveries at a building in a residential district. The city tows for blocked fire hydrants, fire lanes and driveways.
Fire Weather, Storms and Power Shutoffs
When critical fire weather is forecast, Southern California Edison may shut off power to at-risk circuits. Heavy rain can bring road closures and evacuation warnings in the burn areas. If either one lands on your moving day, call us and we will work out a new plan together.

How Does Pricing Work For Malibu Movers At Pure Moving?
Our local moves are billed by the hour, and the clock only runs while we work. Moving pads, wardrobe boxes, shrink wrap, dollies, straps, reassembly, packing and unpacking, tax and basic insurance are already in the rate. Stairs, narrow hallways and long walks do not add a fee. Take a look at our rates page or ask for a free quote.
Do I Need A Permit To Park A Moving Truck In Malibu?
It depends on where the truck sits. Your own driveway is the simplest setup. If the truck has to use the street, the City of Malibu says an Encroachment Permit is required for use of the public right of way. Call Malibu Public Works at 310-456-2489, ext. 391 before moving day.
Can A Large Moving Truck Use Pacific Coast Highway In Malibu?
Caltrans restricts one type: “No through trucks or truck and trailer combinations with 4 or more axles” between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Decker Road. Tell us your address and what you are moving, and we will talk through which truck makes sense for your home.
What If A Road Closes Or The Power Goes Out On Moving Day?
It happens in Malibu, so check before the truck rolls. The city posts road and lane closures in its Alert Center, and Southern California Edison may shut off power during critical fire weather. If something changes, call us at 800-816-5121. We are here to help before, during and after your move.
Are Your Malibu Movers Licensed And Insured?
Absolutely. Pure Moving Company is fully licensed and insured, license MTR0191103, and basic insurance is part of our hourly rate. Your furniture is wrapped individually and protected from loading to unwrapping, because we care about your things as much as you do.
