El Segundo Movers for Homes, Offices and Everything in Between
The City calls El Segundo a 5.5 square mile economic powerhouse with small-town charm. Some moves here are a family home on a residential street near downtown. Others are an office full of desks for one of the aerospace, technology or creative media companies based here, minutes from LAX. We handle both, with residential moving and commercial moving.
Pure Moving Company is a moving company, plain and simple. Our friendly pro movers show up, wrap your furniture and valuables individually, and treat your move like it matters, because it does. We are fully licensed and insured, and there are no hidden fees.
One local tip before you book: the City prefers moving trucks on private property and keeps them off several main streets. We will help you think through where the truck goes long before moving day. Get a free quote!
Moving in El Segundo: What to Plan For
Start With Your Driveway
El Segundo’s Public Works Department says its preference is to have moving trucks and moving containers placed on private property. If that is not feasible, you can apply for a Temporary No Parking Sign through an encroachment permit. The City’s permit page spells out the ground rules:
- The truck or container is only allowed in front of your own property, not a neighbor’s.
- Moving trucks and containers are prohibited in commercial areas and on Grand Ave., El Segundo Blvd., Main St., Mariposa Ave. and the north side of Maple Ave. between Main St. and Lomita St.
- The application asks for the moving company’s details and insurance certificate, your dates and times (two weeks at most), the size of the truck and a satellite photo showing where it will sit.
- “No Parking” signs must be posted at least 72 hours in advance.
Apply Early
Applications go through the City’s online permit portal. The City says they are typically reviewed within 3 weeks of submission, so start as soon as you have a moving date.
Permit Zones, Street Sweeping and Overnight Parking
Parts of El Segundo are preferential parking zones where cars must display a City permit. The City’s list includes blocks of California Street, Washington Street, E. Maple Avenue and E. Holly Avenue. Permits come from Public Works at City Hall, 350 Main Street.
Street sweeping runs through the week, and the City says routes and times may have changed recently, so always check the signs on your street. Renting your own truck or trailer? Oversized vehicles and trailers may not park overnight between 2:00 and 6:00 a.m. on any City street without an Oversized Vehicle Permit from the Police Department.
